Back-End Developer - Ruby

Due to growth, we seek a bright and enthusiastic Back End Developer with knowledge of Ruby, Ruby on Rails, RESTful APIs and object-oriented design. You will focus on code which supports the needs of the front end application written in React, a basic understanding of Javascript and React would be an advantage.

This is an exciting opportunity to be responsible for developing a truly ground breaking product. If you want to have a large impact and contribute more than just your time, as at Immersive Labs, we value determination, ingenuity, collaboration and an understanding that unique products require unique technical solutions.

You'll get to work in a friendly multi-disciplinary agile team and also work on innovative ideas one day a fortnight in our 10% time.

 

Your main responsibilities:

You'll get to immerse yourself in Ruby, Ruby on Rails, Docker, Kubernetes and AWS. We want to give you a place where you'll learn from us and we'll learn from you through getting involved in the following:

  • Formulate technical solutions from product requirements in collaboration with others to create a first class platform
  • Design, build and maintain an efficient, reusable and reliable codebase 
  • Maintaining good test coverage over all aspects of the codebase by performing unit tests and integration tests
  • Identify bottlenecks and bugs in back-end code, and devise solutions to these problems to minimise customer impact
  • Translate technical language/concepts for non-technical individuals written and orally 
  • Be actively involved in all team ceremonies, 2-week sprints and retrospectives, working closely with product managers and other disciplines
  • Work closely with the front end developers; our front end applications are developed in JavaScript, React, HTML5, and CSS3

Success in this role will depend most on your approach, underlying skills and potential for growth, even if some of the above would be new to you. You should apply if you have:

  • Demonstrable and up-to-date knowledge with Ruby, Ruby on Rails, APIs (GraphQL or REST), and object-oriented design. 
  • Any experience with AWS or Kubernetes is an advantage 
  • Ability to integrate multiple data sources and databases into one system and create database schemas that represent and support business processes
  • Understanding of fundamental design principles behind scalable applications
  • Proficient understanding of Git and familiarity with CI setups

Cyber Crisis Simulation Lead

This isn’t just any old Cyber Security role. We know a lot of people will put fingers to keyboards and pop this in their job ads, but we really mean it!

Immersive Labs Crisis Simulation product marries incident response with engaging scenarios that emulate real-life decision making, forcing C-Level Execs, Management and Technical Leads to work together to make it out the other side of a cyber crisis with business (and reputation) intact - and now you can be part of the story as we scale and expand the product!

Due to the growth of our Organizational Exercising and Resilience team, we are seeking an experienced, creative and driven individual to join us as a Cyber Crisis Simulation Lead.

This role is integral to the growth of Immersive Lab’s Crisis Sim offering, providing a catalogue of crisis simulations that resonate for the world's largest organizations and cover a range of maturity levels, threats and vectors.

You will work with the Organizational Exercising Product / Engineering team to maintain our market position and create content that appeals to the C-suite right through to Technical Incident Response Teams and enable us to convert potential customers at demo.

You will support Immersive Lab’s Professional Services and/or Partners pipeline by building template Crisis Sims and supporting enablement materials (how and why).

 

Your main responsibilities (we're scaling fast, so these may change as we grow):

  • Develop the catalogue of Crisis Sim scenarios covering different client maturity levels (i.e. beginners to advanced) across multiple sectors and vectors.

  • Provide leadership and support the Organizational Exercising Principal in the planning and ongoing maintenance of an organizational exercising roadmap that supports the needs of IL clients and can quickly adapt to cover relevant / recent incidents with support from the wider IL organization.

  • Understand custom Crisis Sim briefs and deliver on time and in full to customers at the required quality level.

  • Champion quality content and provide constructive feedback to peers as part of the TQA process. 

  • Build content with the end user experience at the forefront.

  • Collaborate with other Content teams to create cross-role exercises.

  • Identify gaps in the market and support the Product Director in prioritizing solutions that best position IL within the wider competitor landscape.

  • Identify areas of technical debt and/or uplift within the content.

  • Research Crisis Sim trends, remaining at the forefront of industry events.

  • Support senior team members with customer events and calls, leading these where relevant and support and mentor junior members of the  team.

  • Experience of running crisis management / incident response processes and/or the development and facilitation of crisis management /incident responses exercises.

  • Familiarity with Business continuity planning frameworks (such as ISO or an organizations specific policy and standards)  including business impact assessment planning and disaster recovery

  • Communication and presentation skills - ability to confidentially facilitate an exercises to large audiences, can adjust presentation style to appropriately engage different audiences

  • Experience of working in an agile environment, responding appropriately to changing priorities, proactively managing competing demands, and working at pace to meet objectives and deliver quality outcomes for customers and stakeholders. 

  • Demonstrable experience of working with large, global or government organizations (in any capacity); familiar with how to navigate complex organizations and enterprise-level organizational structures.

Cybersecurity Team Manager

Are you a driven and motivated people leader with a background in cybersecurity? Are you an agile individual able to collaborate with stakeholders and team members to deliver projects in a timely manner?

Then come and join us as a Cybersecurity Team Manager, working within our Cyber Content team.

High-performing teams are the key to Immersive Labs rapid growth - You will support the day-to-day operations and delivery of our cyber content team in line with our quality standards. You will work closely with our product owners, helping to ensure the delivery of content aligns with the strategic vision of the product and roadmap. You will also interact with the product and engineering teams to ensure effective delivery of content being created as well as line managing staff. .

 

Your main responsibilities (we're scaling fast, so these may change as we grow):

As a Cybersecurity Team Manager you will delegate and assign work to teams and individuals. You will shape an inclusive environment with a strong collaborative culture and lead on the line management of our content team engineers by mapping their career development, conducting regular 121s and identifying training programs and requirements.

You will proactively identify and deliver projects to improve the Cyber Content’s team ways of working and delivery of the Company vision.

Other responsibilities would include;

  • Responsible for the tactical and operational planning and content delivery of the team, helping to ensure that it aligns with the roadmap we have set out
  • Support Agile ceremonies including; Sprint planning, Sprint reviews, and Sprint retrospectives
  • Partner with other managers and sub-teams to understand performance, identify growth bottlenecks and enablers
  • Help design, implement, and maintain internal performance management framework and overall company KPI framework 
  • Assist in the delivery of metrics and data to calculate ROI of each team and analyze team performance, pain points and quality issues

Junior Application Security Engineer - Bristol

Due to unprecedented growth we have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Application Security Engineer to join our fast growing Content Engineering team.

You will write deliberately vulnerable web applications and create practical immersive hands on labs to help us educate software developers around the world on how to fix vulnerabilities in their code and create more secure applications.

In 2020 we launched Secure Coding - this exciting addition to our market-leading platform teaches developers how to write secure code. We are creating labs that take our users from the basics of writing a secure application avoiding the standard OWASP pitfalls through to building secure public cloud-hosted web apps.

In this role, you will be a key member of our internal Application Security content team, contributing to the creation of secure coding labs and research that our community and customers will devour.

This is an exciting opportunity to be responsible for developing a truly ground breaking product. If you want to have a large impact and contribute more than just your time, this could be the role for you - we value determination, ingenuity, collaboration and an understanding that unique products require unique technical solutions.

  • Understanding of developing secure software and the OWASP top 10 Web application risks
  • Interest in writing theory and online learning content about programming, secure coding, IT/Computing and/or Cyber would be an advantage
  • Familiarity with Linux and Docker
  • Good English written and verbal communication skills
  • Are based in Bristol or within a commutable distance, with the ability to be in office 2-3 days per week

Lead Application Security Engineer

  • Interest in writing theory and online learning content about programming, secure coding, IT/Computing and/or Cyber would be an advantage

Lead Product Manager

 

We are looking for a Lead Product Manager with a passion for delivering products that people love to use to support our team. As a Lead Product Manager you will be responsible for defining the vision and prioritising the initiatives for your product area to achieve maximum business outcome. You love to go through customer and user feedback, research, prioritise, and validate your assumptions with data. We offer you the opportunity to work with an amazing team of highly talented engineers, designers, customer success managers, and account owners to realise and shape the product.



Your main responsibilities (we’re scaling fast, so the below will change and evolve as we grow):

  • Become an expert in how the major elements of the product work, providing product support to Sales and Customer Success, demonstrating product features and eliciting user feedback.
  • Take a data driven, analytical approach to prioritising and refining new features and product enhancements that meet customer and business needs.
  • Set, track and optimise success metrics to ensure that deliverables are defined and measurable.
  • Prioritise and organise features and technical requirements for your product area, ensuring a focus is maintained on delivering value to customers.
  • Ensure a clear Product Roadmap is created, managed and communicated so that development work, marketing and release can be planned. Work closely with the marketing and sales teams to ensure effective go-to-market. 
  • Collaborate cross-product with other Product Managers to ensure any inter-team dependencies are taken into account during planning, and to share best practice.
  • Lead and inspire the Product delivery teams, ensuring they have the rationale and motivation required to deliver the product vision.
  • Develop user stories with agreed acceptance criteria. Work with agile Design and Engineering teams to ensure stories are correctly refined, technical constraints, dependencies and prerequisites are identified and that the product vision is realised.
  • Ensure a balance of Technical Debt, feature development and Technical Prerequisite work is undertaken in a responsible and timely manner to ensure feature delivery and product performance.
  • Develop and maintain strong market awareness and deep understanding of the cyber landscape.

Product Manager - Associate

Are you passionate about creating great products that users love to use and have a strong business acumen to help you prioritise?

 

As an Associate Product Manager you will learn product management techniques and thought processes whilst being fully supported by a more senior Product Manager / Director and wider Product team.

 

You will use your growing knowledge of user needs and outcomes to frame problems, make evidenced based decisions and set priorities. 

 

You’ll work alongside the agile design and engineering teams to deliver features and enhancements, defining and measuring success.

 

Your main responsibilities (we’re scaling fast, so the below will change and evolve as we grow):

  • Inspire the Product Delivery teams, ensuring they have the rationale and motivation required to deliver the product vision.
  • Develop user stories with agreed acceptance criteria. Work with the Engineering team to ensure stories are correctly refined, technical constraints, dependencies and prerequisites are identified and that the product vision is realised.
  • With the Product Manager, prioritise the implementation of new features to ensure the product roadmap delivers outcomes for both customers and Immersive Labs
  • Prioritise and organise features and technical requirements for your product area, ensuring a focus is maintained on delivering value to customers.
  • Streamline and optimise processes and features to enable scale, taking an Enterprise-first approach
  • Take a data driven, analytical approach to prioritising and refining new features and product enhancements that meet customer and business needs.
  • Track and optimise success metrics to ensure that deliverables are defined and measurable.
  • Ensure clear and effective communication so that development work, marketing and release can be planned. Work closely with Product Marketing, Sales and Customer Support teams to ensure effective go-to-market.

  • Develop and demonstrate strong understanding in how the major elements of the product work
