Senior Cloud Operations Engineer

Then look no further, as we have an exciting opportunity for you to join us here at Immersive Labs - a rapidly growing cyber security business - as a Senior Cloud Operations Engineer within our in-house Engineering team.

As a key member of our Infrastructure division, you will partner with our Platform delivery and Content teams to deliver our Lab environment playing an important part in giving certainty to the platform security, while improving stability and availability. 

Here at Immersive Labs, we utilise a modern AWS-based tech stack, Docker, Kubernetes & Terraform - perfect for you to immerse (pun intended!) yourself in to shape and feed our technology roadmap to help steer our platform into the future. 

You will manage and support the unique Kubernetes implementation across multiple AWS accounts and regions; ensuring continuous delivery of containers and seamless scaling to meet user demand.

Your main responsibilities (we're scaling fast, so these may change as we grow):

  • Participate in architecting and building systems for maximum performance, reliability and scalability
  • Work with the Engineering and Content teams on new projects/products and how best to deploy them
  • Support the development team's ability to rapidly and safely deploy code and configuration
  • Maintain and improve the DevOps teams processes and ensure that our services are robust, resilient, secure, and compliant
  • Build and maintain a secure DevOps lifecycle, with continuous improvement to meet evolving application and compliance requirements.


You should apply if you have ​​(we know it’s tough, but please try to avoid the ​​confidence gap​.​​ You don’t have to match all the listed requirements exactly to be considered for this role):

  • Exposure to working in production-critical infrastructures and Cloud environments
  • Knowledge of the Amazon Web Services ecosystem and familiarity with Serverless technologies
  • Understanding of Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience in on-call rotation, as an escalation path in the case of high priority incidents
  • Exposure to and understanding of infrastructure automation and deployment - experience with Terraform and Cloudformation would be desirable but not essential
  • Understanding of cloud monitoring tools - if you have any exposure to DataDog that would be desirable, but not essential - and a commitment to scripting, particularly Python

  • If successful, you will receive an invite from a Talent Acquisition Partner to a screening interview which takes around 30 minutes to discuss the role, culture at Immersive Labs and your expertise in more detail.
  • If you progress from this step there will be 2 interviews involving Jet White - one of our Senior Engineering Managers - and our Infrastructure team. Your Talent Acquisition Partner will outline each step when you get there
